The British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) has appointed John Hooker as its new CEO.

Hooker is chief executive of SATRA Technology Centre Ltd and will take up the new role in summer 2025, succeeding Alan Murray, who has led the organisation for 11 years.

Hooker joined SATRA in 2015 as executive director and has been instrumental in advancing its personal protective equipment (PPE) certification and testing capabilities.

He also spearheaded the development of SATRA’s Century House test equipment manufacturing facility. He has held board positions across various regulated industries, including medical devices and automotive sectors.

“I am very excited to be joining the BSIF and really looking forward to supporting the leading PPE and safety equipment businesses, as well as the broader market, in improving workplace safety and health across the UK,” Hooker said.
