New research commissioned by the Ladder Association has raised serious concerns that unsafe and potentially dangerous ladders are being sold to unsuspecting consumers in the UK.

During the EUROLAB General Assembly held on 19 May 2022 in Rome (Italy), Laura Martin, former Secretary of the EUROLAB Board, was elected as Secretary General, EUROLAB.

Eurolab is to hold a special session during the IMEKO TC6 Conference on Metrology and Digital Transformation, on Wednesday, 21 September 2022 at 10-12 CEST, in Berlin.

Engineers are designing a green ammonia plant that can reliably and efficiently generate ammonia using only intermittent renewable energy as the source of power. The project, led by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) with partners Frazer-Nash Consultancy has won early-stage funding from the UK Government to get it off the ground.

EUROLAB has been confirmed as an official Stakeholder Organisation at the BIPM-WMO Metrology for Climate Action Workshop. The workshop is expected to set out a series of recommendations on key technical challenge areas for metrology over the next decade.

The Summer edition of The Journal of the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee (All-Party Parliamentary Group) has been published. The issue coincides with the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee’s long-awaited return to the Palace of Westminster for their discussion meetings programme.

The UK Government has introduced a number of new transitional measures impacting the introduction of UKCA. BEIS and UKAS will host a webinar on Tuesday 12 July 2022 at 2pm covering the new UKCA transitional measures introduced by the Government, as well as the accreditation process.

The joint IMEKO TC1-TC7-TC13-TC18 Symposium 2022 will take place in Porto (Portugal) from 31 August to 1 September 2022.

The “Cutting-Edge Measurement Science for the Future”, event has the institutional support of EUROLAB. It is followed by a day MATHMET satellite workshop, on 2 September, on mathematical and statistical applications related to the activity of the Technical Committees involved.

The MMN will be hosting its next event Thin Film Defect Characterisation on the 12th July at 3:30pm. This event will feature presentations from NPL’s Daniel O’Connor, the University of Huddersfield’s Hussam Muhamedsalih, and The University of Manchester’s Andrew Thomas.
