Hydrogen Strategy Now is a campaign made up of leading businesses, such as Kiwa, operating in the UK, united in their belief that the Government must establish a UK-wide hydrogen strategy. Collectively under this campaign they have written to the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, this week urging him to open discussions for a UK-wide hydrogen strategy as part of a post-COVID recovery. Such focus would create high-skilled green jobs, secure investments into the UK economy as well as export opportunities, while also providing a pathway towards Net Zero targets.

The number of Fixed Wireless Access internet providers across the UK has jumped as homes and businesses create demand for faster broadband. Ofcom, the regulating body of UK communications services, has also joined the UK Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (UKWISPA), the official trade body recognised by UK authorities for the high-standard delivery of internet access services. Becoming a key stakeholder in UKWISPA, Ofcom is recognising fixed wireless as a mainstream broadband service to the public.

In July 2020, the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology announced a standardised UK system for detecting coronavirus in wastewater, to provide an early warning of future outbreaks, reducing the reliance of testing large populations. Sewage surveillance is one of the most promising methods to identify hotspots. The virus can be detected in the sewerage and wastewater supplies and indicate the potential for a major outbreak.
