The increasing use of electrification in transport and the need to store energy from renewable energy sources such as solar cells leads to challenges to provide suitable battery storage. These batteries need to operate for a long time, reliably and within stated performance criteria. New battery manufacturers are emerging as is a need for better regulation of standards, more efficient means of testing cells and considerations for material reuse at the end of a battery’s life.
