The Department of Business and Trade has now legislated for continued CE recognition.
The Product Safety and Metrology, etc. (Amendment) Regulations 2024 was approved in parliament on 23 May and features significant updates affecting 21 product categories, including toys and radio equipment.
The new regulations means businesses will have the flexibility to use either the UKCA or CE marking to sell products in Great Britain.
Specific sectors, including medical devices and construction products, are subject to unique arrangements overseen by respective government departments and are not encompassed by the recent amendments.
