UKAS PAF meeting

UKAS PAF meeting

The BMTA attended the UKAS Policy Advisory Forum (PAF) in London on 17 September. This year’s forum coincided with UKAS’s 30th anniversary.

The meeting, chaired by Caroline Hamilton MBE, began with opening remarks from Lord Jamie Lindsay, Chair of UKAS, and Chief Executive Matt Gantley, setting the stage for a day focused on discussion and collaboration with stakeholders.

One notable part of the programme was a fireside conversation between Richard Collin, UKAS External Affairs Director and Sally Jones from the Department for Business and Trade. Their discussion explored the UK’s Trade Strategy and the essential role of accreditation and the wider National Quality Infrastructure in easing technical barriers to trade and enabling access to global markets.

The PAF forms an important part of UKAS governance and provides a platform for representatives from government, regulators, industry, professional bodies and the UK’s measurement and testing community to exchange perspectives. BMTA members are encouraged to send their thoughts and concerns ahead of the meetings.
